With the success of the Twilight novels a spotlight has been shone on LDS Romantic fiction. It is so named as it is either written Mormons or deals with Mormon themes (LDS stand for Latter Day Saints). The romantic subgenre is a new form, which covers many styles from Historic romance, modern love, to fantasy and paranormal romance. As it deals with moral topics it is a great place to start if you want a little old fashioned romance in you stories.

The Secret Journal of Brett Colton by Kay Lynn Mangum

In this coming of age story we find Kathy Colton living in the shadow of her dead brother. She was only two when he died at the age of seventeen; her older siblings often talk about his as if he was still alive. As she is dealing with her mixed feelings of this stranger with so much presence in her life, Kathy finds his diary and begins to find out the truth of the real Brett. At the same time she has been assigned to tutor one of the jocks, the star of the football team. Although so different she feels herself being drawn to him, despite the fact that he is a Mormon. This is a multilayered romance that deals with the anguish of youth. This debut from Kay Lynn Mangum is an immensely popular read for all ages.
